Paid Work Placements
Every year we offer a limited number of paid work placements to participants that meet our strict recruitment criteria. The are predominantly within hotel and catering but we also have customer service and housekeeping roles based across South Devon.
Placements vary in duration from 2 to 8 months dependent on start date. Average stay is 4 months. Individuals and groups accepted.
Usually participants live with a host family on a self-catering basis near to the workplace. A commitment to stay in TTPL accommodation for a minimum of 6 weeks, payable in advance, is compulsory. If trainees wish to stay longer in their host family, rent is paid to TTPL on a weekly basis by bank transfer. Alternatively, participants are free to seek their own accommodation after 6 weeks.
Prior to starting work, all participants undertake a Welcome Meeting and employment preparation in order for us to provide assistance with the practical details of the employment such as:
Opening a bank account
Organisation of UK National Insurance no.
Completion of UK Tax Office forms
We accompany participants to their work placement on their first day and monitor the participant during their stay to ensure that all parties are happy.
All paid participants have access to our Student Support Officers and 24 hour emergency phone number. We hold a weekly evening meeting for all participants to meet on a social basis where a member of staff will be available to discuss and advise on any concerns.
Employees will be paid at least the UK national minimum wage and we ask all employers to provide at least 30 hours work per week.
Due to increasing demand, we have a strict approach when recruiting participants for these roles. Participants must fulfill the criteria below:
- Minimum English language level of B1
- Minimum age 18 years old
- Previous work experience
- EU/EEA Citizen
