What’s on Devon… May!

We can’t believe yet another month has gone by here at TTPL. Over a third of the way through the year…How did this happen?!

But do not fret! From sampling the most delectable food the South West has to offer, to partying with Hodor from Game of Thrones, you’re in the right place to find out what’s on in Devon this month!

Bank Holiday

4th – 6th May

Bank holiday fever sweeps the nation again, as Monday, 6th May is yet another bank holiday here in the UK, and luckily we aren’t short of things to keep us entertained over this extended weekend.

Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink

The highly anticipated Exeter Food & Drink Festival is back for yet another tantalising year as the very best producers of the South West descend on Exeter Castle and Northernhay Gardens for three days of indulgent, foodie-themed entertainment.

Why not head down there over the weekend and sample something delicious?

Exeter Beats Music Festival at Exeter Castle

Once you’ve satisfied your taste buds, why not go and party with Radio 1’s very own DJ’s. Over the three nights, catch Scott Mills, Nick Grimshaw, and even DJ Kristian Nairn, otherwise known as Game of Thrones friendly giant, Hodor, as well as other live music from local artists.

Brixham Pirate Festival

Just in case you’re all foodied out, you could visit the quintessential English fishing town of Brixham, where for one weekend only, the town becomes alive with me'hearty pirates in all shapes n’ sizes! Try and catch (excuse the pun):

  • Period re-enactors
  • Living history exhibits
  • Live music

11th May

To celebrate 10 years of community ownership of Babbacombe Cliff Railway, for one day only EVERYONE can travel for FREE on the historic cliff railway, which transports you to and from the beautiful Oddicombe beach.

So whether you’re an avid user of the railway or a newbie, make sure you visit the cliff railway, situated in Babbacombe, Torquay.

28th May

Before the month is over, the UK is gifted with yet another bank holiday, and with it comes a generous offering of more food festivals!

Why not visit Dartington May Food Fair, near Totnes, where you’ll be welcomed by an eclectic variety of food and fun for all ages, from cooking demonstrations, to live music!

We hope our recommendations keep you busy.. if not full, until June!
