Rejoice for Rowcroft!
Since its journey began over 100 years ago, Rowcroft Hospice has grown into a vital entity of the Torbay community and beyond. Dedicated to helping adults living with life-limiting illnesses in the South West, each year Rowcroft helps thousands of individuals and provides support and comfort to affected family members, completely free of charge.
As a charity that receives over 70% of its funding from the generosity of the local community, fundraising events play an existential role in ensuring the hospice can continue its paramount work. For many years now, we have been fortunate to call Rowcroft a work placement provider, offering individuals the opportunity to expand their skills in event management, community fundraising and marketing, all in aid for a very worthy cause.
This includes assisting in the preparation and organisation of highly anticipated events, including, the annual Rowcroftass Sleep Walk and Summer Garden Party, as well supporting e-commerce responsibilities at their distribution centre. From compiling promotional material to spread awareness of an upcoming fundraiser, to stewarding on the day of the event, applicants who complete their work experience at Rowcroft gain a valued understanding of the many components that create a successful fundraiser and encourages a community to come together.
It’s an honour to be able to provide our applicants with the opportunity to work in such an inspiring environment, and equally, the chance to dedicate their working day to a deserving cause, helping those who truly need it. Looking ahead into 2020, we look forward to offering our applicants a truly life-changing work placement opportunity.
