Friendly Families

Hosting young people is a great way to integrate different cultures into your family life and our hosts often tell us how rewarding the experience is. Families are asked to treat their guests like a member of the family and lifelong friendships are often made.

We are always looking for new host families across South Devon.

Our trainees are here all year round and stays can vary from 3 weeks to 6 months.  Most are out all day at work and are encouraged to meet with the other European trainees to improve their English and enjoy their time here.

  • Meet new people from different cultures
  • Introduce your children to new languages
  • Our trainees are adults not youngsters
  • Flexible – self-catering, half and full-board
  • Suits different lifestyles; single parents, families, working couples
  • Supplement your income

Leaving home and travelling to a new country can be a daunting experience. We make sure trainees have the information they need before they arrive and we provide a detailed Welcome Pack when they get here.

Most of our trainees are over 18 years and although they don’t need 24 hour monitoring, we expect our host families to provide a safe and friendly environment for them to develop their social and communication skills.

We provide our families and trainees with the highest possible standards of care. Our dedicated Accommodation Officer and Student Support Officer are there to assist both you and your trainees during their stay. Our emergency out of hours phone number is available to you also.

Accommodation is allocated so that it is convenient to travel to the Work Placement or training and can be on a full-board, half-board or self-catering basis.
